Dave cut his “IT” teeth on Vic-20’s, Apple-II’s and a QX-10 in the early 80’s. After a break to serve in the US Marines, he again picked up the IT bug, assuming a role as one of the SysOps for a California based BBS in the mid 90’s, writing a few front-end GUIs using VisualBasic for BBS text based games like TradeWars and MajorMUD.
Much has changed since then, but the passion for leveraging technology to provide innovative solutions to problems still thrives.
His hand’s on experience with a wide range of technology includes wide area networking, data centers, virtualization, application and web services or API development, web scripting and interfacing, and network monitoring and information security. Professional development includes CIPP, ITIL and PMP training, windows server, policy and domain administration, as well as network security and ethical hacking and countermeasures courses. Continually engaged in both self-led and structured learning, Dave continues to culture a broad base of knowledge from which to draw on in building solutions and leading teams of more narrowly focused subject matter experts.
Dave’s current focus is on developing IT professionals and managing teams, in a variety of environments, to achieve IT stability and a sensible level of process maturity within organizations.
